Bitdefender`s Next Gen Machine Learning prevents attacks from GoldenEye/ Petya Ransomware

The recent wave of ransomware attack, #GoldenEye/#Petya hit the market worldwide and have spread to multiple countries affecting critical infrastructures, including Chernobyl in Ukraine, Merck in the US, and Deutsche Post to name just a few.

This is the second massive ransomware attack following the WannaCry outbreak in May and is more aggressive. Not only did GoldenEye “borrow” the self-propagating capability from WannaCrypt, but also added additional layers of encryption. Learn more about the attack.

Our GravityZone Security for Endpoint featuring next-generation machine-learning anti-malware and HVI with memory introspection technologies ensure that your customers are safe from the latest ransomware attacks, including WannaCry, and most recently, GoldenEye/Petya.

Product news

New powerful protection features in Bitdefender GravityZone

Bitdefender launches Endpoint Security HD, a solution that accurately protects enterprises against sophisticated cyber threats that elude detection by competing endpoint security products. Two new modules have been added on top of the current protection layers to strengthen the prevention and detection of unknown threats:

• HyperDetect. Powered by proven machine learning models, strong heuristics and behavioral-based detection, the protection module detects with pinpoint accuracy the latest and most advanced forms of threats, including file-less attacks.

• Sandbox Analyzer for Endpoints. Gives you improved context on threat behavior, by performing automatic, in-depth analysis of the suspicious files in an isolated, cloud-based sandbox.

Endpoint Security HD is part of the GravityZone Elite bundle (Cloud only) and will be available for ordering starting July 11th.

We have also added Full Disk Encryption to GravityZone, as an essential component of hardening and control layer, available for both Cloud and on premise. GravityZone FDE leverages the native device encryption mechanisms provided by Windows and macOS, being fully integrated into the GravityZone Console and Agent.

Active Directory Integration – Cloud solution. GravityZone can now recognize and integrate endpoints joined in an Active Directory domain. Your network inventory will display AD endpoints and groups in a dedicated network tree, next to the Custom Groups.

Bitdefender 2018 Beta Campaign

We have a successful 2018 Beta campaign, with over 2,800 installs (vs. ~1,000 last year) and 1,900 reports (vs. 880 last year). Thank for your support in sending the beta campaign message to our customers!

Bitdefender 2018 launch

The launch of the new consumer product line, Bitdefender 2018, is approaching fast, and we are excited to share with you and our customers all the new features in our product, such as:

• Webcam protection, which notifies you when apps try to access your webcam and lets you block unauthorized access;

• Advanced Threat Defense, with proactive monitoring and instant action;

• Safe Files, which prevents unauthorized changes to your most important files;

• Multi-Layer Ransomware Protection, to protect your personal files from malicious encryption programs.

We remind you that our new product line is available starting this year cross-platform: Windows, macOS, Android and iOS.
